Big Swole sets a new record as Phoenix of RISE Champion

As of today, Big Swole is the longest-reigning Phoenix of RISE Champion, boasting 261 days since she won the title last August.

Last summer, Big Swole won her first singles title in her rematch against Zoe Lucas at The Summit. After Lucas survived at Luminous in May, Swole finally got her revenge as she became the first black Phoenix of RISE Champion.

To mark the occasion, Japanese legend, Bull Nakano, presented Big Swole with the title after she dispensed of Lucas.

Since Swole has successfully defended the Phoenix of RISE Championship twice. She notably retained the title after a competitive one-on-one match against Laynie Luck at La Escalera.

She was set to defend the title against Kylie Rae at RISE’s last live event, Legendary, back in March. However, the outbreak of COVID-19 forced the Chicago-based promotion to reschedule the event.

With a new date tentatively scheduled for October, Big Swole made history again. Today, she eclipsed Shotzi Blackheart’s record-setting reign, which lasted 244 days.

We’ll have to wait and see if she can successfully retain against Rae, who made her return to RISE in November. Nevertheless, Big Swole could go down as the last Phoenix of RISE Champion for the foreseeable future.
