Britt Baker wins AEW Women’s World title at Double Or Nothing

During tonight’s AEW pay-per-view Double Or Nothing, Britt Baker defeated Hikaru Shida to become the new AEW Women’s World Champion.

At Blood and Guts, Baker’s pleas for a title opportunity were finally answered, after AEW announced Hikaru Shida would defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against Baker, who was ranked no. 1 on the AEW women’s rankings.

Shida’s reign lasted 373 days. The joshi star won the title at the 2020 Double Or Nothing, defeating Nyla Rose. Shida will go down as an important champion during wrestling’s COVID era.

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D, was the first female to be signed with the promotion, signing with the company on Jan. 2, 2019. Baker’s 2021 singles record is now 11-1.
