CAC to present Jazz with 2020 Women’s Wrestling Award

Correction (2/23/2021): Original article stated “Jazz was also the first African American NWA World Women’s Champion.” Jazz was not the first African American NWA World Women’s Champion, and the fact has been removed from this article.

On Thursday, the Cauliflower Alley Club announced that they will present Jazz with the 2020 Women’s Wrestling Award this April.

At the fifty-fifth CAC Reunion, the non-profit organization will honor Jazz as its 2020 Women’s Wrestling Award recipient. Other well-known stars who have won the award include Santana Garrett, Beth PhoenixGail KimLisa Marie Varon, Molly Holly, Ivory, and Awesome Kong.

Jazz is a two-time WWE Women’s Champion. Fans often forget Jazz was only the second black WWE Women’s Champion. WWE Hall of Famer, Jacqueline, was the first.

During her first reign, she successfully defended the title against Lita and Trish Stratus at WrestleMania X8.

Also, given the history of the NWA women’s title, it is amazing to see the former NWA Women’s Champion Jazz mentioned among the likes of The Fabulous Moolah, June Byers, and Debbie Combs

In 2004, the Cauliflower Alley Club honored another legendary black women’s wrestler, Sandy Parker. She was the first black woman to win a world championship.

The Fifty-Fifth CAC Reunion will take place from April 27-29 at the Gold Coast Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.
