After last night’s episode of NXT, Candice LeRae will be a part of the number one contender’s match for the NXT Women’s Championship, making it a fatal four-way.
LeRae will join Mia Yim, Bianca Belair, and Io Shirai in a match next week to determine Shayna Baszler’s next challenger. This match was originally announced last week and scheduled for NXT’s network television debut on USA.
General Manager, William Regal, added Candice LeRae after she demanded an explanation because it seemed like he was rewarding Shirai for her recent behavior. In response, he agreed with her frustration and changed the match.
Io and LeRae have been involved in a heated feud since Shirai attacked her following the cage match on the June 26 episode of NXT. Since the two tore the house down in a great match at NXT TakeOver: Toronto, but Shirai came out on top.
Notably, Candice LeRae is the only one out of the four participants in this bout who hasn’t challenged Baszler for the title yet. However, they do have a history together dating back to the first Mae Young Classic, where “The Queen of Spades” defeated her in the quarterfinals.
After the match, Baszler kept on the Kirifuda Clutch after the LeRae tapped out, forcing her to pass out. This could be Candice’s opportunity to get revenge on Io and go on to settle things with Shayna.
WWE didn’t reveal when the title match will happen, but could Candice LeRae be the next challenger for the NXT Women’s Championship?
