Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez win first-ever Women’s Dusty Classic

Tonight, during NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day, Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez defeated Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon to win the first-ever Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament.

As winners of the tournament, Kai and Gonzalez will also receive a future title match against the current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax.

To get to the finals that aired during tonight’s TakeOver, the pair had to defeat the teams of Aliyah and Jessi Kamea, and Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter.

Moon and Blackheart defeated Marina Shafir and Zoey Stark, and The Way (Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae).

Last month, WWE announced the addition of the Women’s Dusty Classic Tournament, coinciding with the men’s tournament.

The tournament has been existence since 2015, named after WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes, who passed away that same year.

No date for the future tag team title match has been set.
