Deonna Purrazzo to make Bloodsport debut

Deonna Purrazzo is taking her superior submission skills to Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport on October 11 in Indianapolis. The event, the third of its kind under Barnett’s name in conjunction with Game Changer Wrestling, was originally scheduled for April during WrestleMania 36 weekend in Tampa.

For those unfamiliar with Bloodsport, matches are held in a rope-less ring and competed in a mixed martial arts style where a winner is decided by knockout or submission only. One may compare it to what is seen on Raw Underground nowadays.

Deonna Purrazzo continues to blaze her own path following her WWE departure in April. Since her debut in Impact Wrestling, Purrazzo defeated Jordynne Grace at Slammiversary in July to capture her first Knockouts Championship. The two went on to rematch at Emergence in the first 30-minute Knockouts Iron Man match, where Purrazzo made history to retain her title.

Purrazzo’s inclusion was inevitable

The addition of The Virtuosa to the upcoming Bloodsport card is another impressive milestone. Though her opponent is unknown as of this writing, she will be the fifth woman to compete in a such a match. Last year’s Bloodsport 2 card featured women for the first time. Sumie Sakai defeated Lindsay Snow by submission, while Allysin Kay beat Nicole Savoy by knockout.

Considering Deonna Purrazzo is the reigning Knockouts Champion and the Fujiwara armbar specialist, it’s beyond fitting that she competes in a match where the only way to win is by knockout or tap-out. What’s even more exciting is that Bloodsport and Impact won’t be the only places fans can catch Purrazzo in action.

Following the recent announcement that she’s accepting independent bookings for the first time in two years, Purrazzo has revealed a few opponents and appearances. The Virtuosa will take on Miranda Alize on September 26 and Billie Starks on October 3. Purrazzo will then return to Shimmer on October 11 before her Bloodsport debut.
