British women’s wrestling is where it’s at, and Pro Wrestling: EVE proves it once again, after they announce Kagetsu will join the ranks of women wrestlers for WrestleQueendom II.
If you were unlucky enough to miss the first WrestleQueendom, last year’s event from EVE was Europe’s biggest ever all-female pro wrestling event. The event garnered praise from critics and fans alike, and drew some of the biggest names in women’s wrestling.
The British women’s wrestling promotion looks to break their record with the sequel, set to take place on Sunday, June 30 at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London. The show starts at 4 p.m., 11 a.m. EST.
There’s little known action on the card, which is typical EVE; always saving some room for surprises. What is known:
Kay Lee Ray (c) vs. Viper for the EVE Championship
Utami Hayashishita (c) vs. Jamie Hayter vs. Nina Samuels in a three-way match for the EVE International Championship
The Medusa Complex (Charli Evans and Millie McKenzie) vs. ??? for the EVE Tag Team Championships
EVE pulls talent from Stardom quite often, and WrestleQueendom II is no different. This year, EVE announced Kagetsu will be at this year’s event.
The 26-year-old was trained by Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling back in 2008, making her a veteran of joshi programs.
Kagetsu debuted for Stardom in 2016 as a member of Oedo Tai, teaming with Kyoko Kimura to capture the Goddess of Stardom Championship. After a short break, Kagetsu became an official member of the Stardom roster in Nov. 2017, becoming the leader of Oedo Tai during the same year.
The Charisma of Oedo Tai captured the World of Stardom Championship from Toni Storm in June 2018, and ranked no. 18 in PWI’s 2018 Women’s 100.
Fans should look for Kagetsu’s Oedo Coaster (450 Splash) and her triple-jump dropkick; both of which are wonders in their own rights.
Most fans will remember Kagetsu from the Women of Honor Tournament, where she faced Sumie Sakai in a banger of a match.
The main event of WrestleQueendom II will feature the 2018 SHE-1 SERIES winner and “ACE of EVE” Jamie Hayter, where she will challenge for the EVE Championship of her choice.
