Five things you may not know about Kairi Sane
Known for wielding the best diving elbow drop in wrestling, Kairi Sane was one of the best WWE acquisitions within the last few years. She signed with the company in March of 2017 after a seven-year stint with Stardom as one of its top performers.
Since, she went on to defeat Shayna Baszler and win the first Mae Young Classic on Sept. 12, 2017. The victory earmarked her arrival on NXT as the next big thing in a time when the brand was rebuilding after Asuka moved up to the main roster.
Sane eventually won the NXT Women’s Championship at TakeOver: Brooklyn IV. In addition, she competed at four main roster pay-per-view events including two Royal Rumble appearances before she was drafted to SmackDown in April.
She was introduced as Asuka’s new tag team partner during the Superstar Shake-Up. The pairing connected with some fans, but they seem directionless now. Moreover, many mainstream viewers, who aren’t familiar with her work with Stardom or NXT, may not understand her appeal.
WWE hasn’t done a good job of introducing her to new fans. She hasn’t even had her own promo since she came to the blue brand.
Nevertheless, today is Kairi Sane’s birthday. To celebrate the occasion here’s a quick list of facts you may not know about the Pirate Princess.
