Indie Spotlight: Ariela Nyx

Ariela Nyx is a New York-based independent wrestler who has wrestled all over the US since her debut in 2015. She has been a fan of wrestling since she was a child and attending indie shows sparked her interest to train.

Nyx has wrestled for Women Superstars Uncensored (WSU), House of Glory (HOG) and Victory Pro Wrestling (VPW) to name a few. The self-proclaimed, “Answer to Your Prayers” is a staple for VPW. She is currently their Women’s Champion with a 310-day reign.

Nxy has only been wrestling for under five years and continues to train at Create A Pro Academy. She has a bright future ahead of her and is definitely a name to watch out for.

When she began to watch pro wrestling:

“I started watching when I was around 4 years old. “

Her journey into pro wrestling:

“I had started going to some local Indie promotions in my area, which piqued my interest in maybe starting to train. By going to shows, I had become friends with Jay Lethal, who was the one who convinced me to start training. He then introduced me to Amazing Red and that’s how I got my start. ”

Inspirations in the ring:

Shawn Michaels, Sensational Sherri, Paul Heyman, Candice LeRae.”

Favorite match/opponent to date:

“Hard to choose a favorite match. I’ve been lucky to work with some great people, but if I had to choose a favorite opponent, I’d have to say Christina Marie. We’ve had some great matches and she’s brought out the best in me. “

Her in-ring style:

“I’d consider myself mostly a striker, with some submissions. My finisher is a Rude Awakening, but I’m also known for my rolling elbow, rings of Saturn and bicycle kick. “

Future goals:

“I hope to inspire people to follow their dreams while wrestling as many people in as many places as possible.  “

Dream opponents:

“Candice LeRae, Daniel Bryan, Charlotte, Jordynne Grace, Shazza McKenzie, Effy, just to name a few. There’s so many. ”

Inspirational words:

“Just want to thank everyone who has ever supported, helped and believed in me. It means more than you guys know. I hope to continue to make everyone proud. This is only the beginning.”
