Jinny regains PROGRESS Women’s Championship

On Sunday, Jinny challenged Meiko Satomura for the PROGRESS Women’s Championship at Chapter 99: With A Flake, Please.

Jinny became the second PROGRESS Women’s Champion in May of 2018 when she defeated the inaugural champion, Toni Storm, at Chapter 69. She held the title for 224 days before she lost it to Jordynne Grace last year at Chapter 82.

This weekend, she took on the Japanese legend, Meiko Satomura, who defeated Grace back in September. The champion looked like she had the match won when she nailed Jinny with a Death Valley Driver.

However, the challenger managed to catch her by surprise with a quick pin to regain the title. Satomura was furious as the referee handed Jinny the PROGRESS Women’s Championship, making her the first two-time champion.

Satomura eventually had to be held back by the official as the champion raised the belt and taunted her. Meiko made a great champion, holding the title for 91 days. This doesn’t seem like the last we’ll see of this matchup. The finish definitely left the door open for a potential rematch.
