Today, Progress Wrestling announced Meiko Satomura will challenge for the Progress Women’s Championship at Chapter 95: Still Chasing.
Satomura will face the current champion, Jordynne Grace. This veritable dream match is the first time the pair have ever been in a ring together.
Grace became the Progress Women’s Champion at the UK promotion’s annual “Unboxing” back in December. In a surprise appearance, the 23-year-old Impact Knockout defeated Jinny to end her 224-day reign. She just successfully defended the title in a fatal four-way against Session Moth Martina, Millie Mckenzie, and Nina Samuels at Progress Chapter 88.
Meiko Satomura is a legend in her homeland, Japan. She has wrestled all over the world but her popularity among mainstream fans skyrocketed after she participated in the second Mae Young Classic. Satomura was easily one of the standout performers in the tournament.
Her bout against Toni Storm is widely regarded as the best match of the annual event. It was possibly one of the best matches of the year.
Grace’s ascension over the last few years speaks for itself. It will be a treat to see these two step into a ring together later this year.
Chapter 95: Still Chasing takes place on Sept. 15 at Alexandra Palace. Tickets are available here. The show will also be available on demand-progress.com.
