It looks like Nia Jax will be Asuka‘s first challenger for the Raw Women’s Championship in a few weeks at WWE Backlash.
“The Empress of Tomorrow” became the new champion after Becky Lynch passed the title on to her two weeks ago. On tonight’s episode of Raw, Charlotte Flair, Natalya, and Nia Jax competed in a triple threat match to determine the new number one contender.
In the opening segment, Flair confronted the 2020 Money in the Bank winner “The Queen” reminded Asuka she has never beat her, which prompted Natalya and Jax to come out as well.
Asuka also has tension with Nia Jax after she interrupted her celebration and attacked Kairi Sane last Monday.
With the champion on commentary, the three women put on a great match filled with several near falls. In the end, Jax picked up the win via pinfall when she planted Natalya with a Samoan Drop.
In a few weeks, Nia Jax will get the chance to become a two-time Raw Women’s Champion. On the other hand, Asuka will get the chance to prove she is a worthy successor to “The Man.”
WWE Backlash will take place on Sunday, June 14. The event will stream live on the WWE Network at 7 pm EST.
