Tonight at SHINE 61, Triple Aye—Aja Perera and Big Swole with Ayla—defeated Rainbow Bright to become the new SHINE Tag Team Champions.
They are the first African-American women to hold the titles in the five years that they have been active.
The team of Aja Perera and Big Swole challenged Luscious Latasha and Gabby Gilbert for the titles in a New York Street Fight at SHINE 61. The challengers came in with a chip on their shoulders, hoping to prove they are the best team the promotion has to offer.
In October of 2017, Perera and Swole came together to form Team SPAM. They defeated The Cutie Pie Club, Aria Blake and Kiera Hogan, at SHINE 46, but they unsuccessfully challenged for the tag title last summer at 52.
Recently, Ayla joined them and they became Triple Aye. The trio proved they were a team to reckon with last month when they beat BTY, Jayme Jameson and Marti Belle.
Afterward, they revealed that they were the new number one contenders for the tag titles. Ayla also notified the champions that their upcoming match would have no disqualifications and no count outs because it’s an NYC Street Fight.
Now that Rainbow Bright couldn’t rely on their old tricks, Triple Aye put them away and ended their 246-day reign.
