At the recent tapings in Mexico City, the IMPACT Knockouts Championship surprisingly changed hands less than a week after Hard To Kill.
That’s right. Jordynne Grace finally got her revenge when she defeated Taya Valkyrie to end her record-setting 378-day reign.
Valkyrie just successfully defended the IMPACT Knockouts Championship last weekend at Hard to Kill. “La Wera Loca” managed to steal the win from Grace after she hit ODB with the Grace Driver.
She may have survived but she didn’t pin “Thick Mama Pump,” which meant a one-on-one match was inevitable. That showdown happened sooner than expected as Grace received a rematch on Saturday night in Mexico City.
Now, we know Jordynne Grace is your new Knockouts Champions. IMPACT will air this match on Tuesday, Jan. 28 on AXS TV.
This answers some lingering questions about the future of the Knockouts division but it’s unclear where Taya Valkyrie will go from here. Her contract expired at the end of 2019.
Valkyrie cemented her legacy with the company as the longest-reigning IMPACT Knockout Champion. She is also the only woman to hold the title for over a year. So, it wouldn’t be hard to imagine she could head to another promotion sometime this year.
