Among the news that WWE will bring the first-ever women’s match to Saudi Arabia tomorrow night, Stephanie McMahon gave an update on Evolution 2.
Earlier today, McMahon participated in an interview with Jonathan Snowden of Bleacher Report. She answered several questions about Crown Jewel, and its cultural and historical significance.
When asked if we could still see a follow up to Evolution she said, “We did consider it. A lot of our focus has been on having this particular match as a part of this PPV in Saudi Arabia. More to come on Evolution but it’s most likely not going to happen in 2019.”
Two days ago, women’s wrestling fans took to social media to reminisce about WWE Evolution, which took place on Oct. 28, 2018. The company’s first all-women’s pay-per-view event is still highly regarded and many hoped to see a sequel this year.
McMahon’s response certainly isn’t surprising because the year is quickly coming to an end and there hasn’t been an announcement. Nevertheless, this is still disappointing news.
There are still a few things to unpack following the latest updates. However, the rumored all-women’s NXT live event is still a good sign that we could eventually see another WWE all-women’s pay-per-view.
