Tonight, Team Kick defeated Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke to earn a title match against The Kabuki Warriors.
A few hours before NXT, William Regal announced that Dakota Kai and Tegan Nox would take on Duke and Shafir in a number one contender’s match. The winner will challenge Asuka and Kairi Sane next Wednesday.
That match got off to a hot start after Duke hit Kai with a cheap shot, landing a brutal kick to the side of her face. Then, the Horsewomen isolated her in their corner.
“The Captain of Team Kick” looked like she was in trouble, successfully cut the ring in half. Eventually, she landed a Scorpion Kick to reach Nox for the hot tag.
Then, Tegan came in and dominated to gain control of the match. In the end, Dakota Kai took Shafir out with a bicycle kick to set her partner up to win with the Shiniest Wizard.
Team Kick are the new number one contenders to WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Afterward, The Kabuki Warriors appeared on the screen to taunt their new challengers.
The Women’s Tag Titles will finally be defended on NXT as WWE has teased since Sasha Banks and Bayley returned to NXT with the belts in February.
