Last night, Tegan Nox won the Fatal Four-Way Elimination Match to become the new number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship.
On the first night of NXT The Great American Bash, Nox competed against Mia Yim, Candice LeRae, and Dakota Kai in the opening match. Early on, Yim singled out LeRae as two have been embroiled in a feud lately.
The “HBIC” teamed up with Nox momentarily to gain the upper hand and used the opportunity to eliminate LeRae. Later, Kai crept up and took out Yim with an O’Connor Roll.
Then, it was down to the former friends turned rivals as Tegan Nox and Dakota Kai fought it out. The two usually have great chemistry together and they were just as evenly matched this time around.
“The Captain of Team Kick” looked win with her finisher, the Kairopractor. However, Nox survived and landed a Molly Go Round, followed by the Shiniest Wizard to win.
So, Tegan Nox earned a chance to challenge Io Shirai, who defeated Sasha Banks with the help of Asuka in the main event.
In other news, Yim and LeRae got into a brawl backstage following Candice’s interview. As a result, they will face each other next week in a Street Fight.
Mercedes Martinez will also be in action next Wednesday on night two of NXT The Great American Bash.
