On Saturday, Thunder Rosa stepped up to answer Hikaru Shida’s open challenge for the AEW Women’s World Championship at All Out 2020.
On the July 15 episode of Dynamite, Shida issued an open challenge for the AEW Women’s World Championship. Straight away, many fans called for Thunder Rosa to answer the challenge.
“La Mera Mera” even acknowledged it on her Twitter account that night. On Saturday night, The NWA World Women’s Championship made the dream match a reality when she appeared on AEW Dynamite to challenge Shida to a match at All Out.
AEW’s women’s division has been the subject of its fair share of criticism recently. However, the company’s women’s roster took the biggest hit this year due to travel restrictions caused by COVID-19 and two major injuries.
Thunder Rosa gives them someone who already has credibility outside of the company because of her work with NWA. In January, Rosa defeated Allysin Kay in a potential Match of the Year candidate at Hard Times to become the new NWA World Women’s Champion.
The match hasn’t been made official yet, but Hikaru Shida vs. Thunder Rosa could be the shot in the AEW needs right now. Even more, Britt Baker is also set to return to in-ring competition at the upcoming event.
AEW All Out will take place on Sept. 5. The pay-per-view event will stream live on B/R Live.
