Two teams advance in the AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup

The AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup Tournament is officially underway and two teams advanced to the semifinals on the first night of The Deadly Draw.

Indie wrestler, Veda Scott, join Tony Schiavone on commentary. To start, Brandi Rhodes drew a red chip and it looked like Allie peeked to find the matching chip. So, “The Nightmare Sisters” will compete as a team after all.

The duo took on the team of Mel and Penelope Ford in the first match. Mel was aggressive to start the match in a nice callback to her debut as part of The Nightmare Collective.

In the end, Allie raked Mel’s eyes to distract her and Rhodes landed a Bionic Spear to pick up the win. As such, “The Nightmare Sisters” were the first team to advance to the semifinals.

Next, Anna Jay drew a black chip, which meant she would team up with Tay Conti in her AEW debut. They looked impressive against Ariane Andrew and Nyla Rose. Surprisingly, they managed to upset the former AEW Women’s World Champion to advance to the next round.

Next Monday, four new teams will be revealed. Then, they will compete for the last two spots in the semifinal in The AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup Tournament.
