On tonight’s episode of NXT, two women’s matches were announced for NXT TakeOver: Toronto II.
First, Shayna Baszler called out Mia Yim, who methodically took down her fellow Horsewomen—Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke. Baszler proclaimed she got the message and at TakeOver she’s going to put her to sleep.
Before she could finish, Yim came out to confront her and assured Baszler she will bring the fight to her in Toronto. So, Shayna Baszler will defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Mia Yim next weekend.
Elsewhere, William Regal found Candice LeRae pacing back and forth in the parking lot, waiting for Io Shirai to show up. The General Manager revealed he told Shirai to stay away from Full Sail, but he granted LeRae a match with her at TakeOver: Toronto.
Candice has been looking for revenge ever since Shirai attacked her after The Genius of the Sky unsuccessfully challenged Baszler for the title in a steel cage match last month.
This is the first TakeOver event to feature two women’s matches since NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II, where Ember Moon debuted against Billie Kay. In addition, Asuka successfully defended the NXT Women’s Championship against Bayley.
NXT TakeOver: Toronto II will take place on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, in Toronto, Ontario at the Scotiabank Arena.
