All Elite Wrestling just announced via Twitter that the AEW Women’s World Champion, Riho, will defend her title at the Full Gear against Emi Sakura.
This will be the second title defense for Riho since she became the inaugural champion on the premiere episode of Dynamite on Oct 2. In the company’s first-ever women’s title match, she defeated Nyla Rose in one of the better matches of the night.
Riho successfully defended her title when she defeated Britt Baker two weeks into her championship reign.
Sakura won her first singles match with AEW on the Oct. 29 episode of AEW Dark. During that episode, she outlasted Sadie Gibbs, Allie, and Penelope Ford in a four-way match.
Emi and Riho have a storied history together. Sakura trained the champion. She debuted for her promotion, Ice Ribbon, in 2006. If anyone can test her, it’s her former mentor.
AEW Full Gear takes place on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore. The championship match is the second women’s match on the card in addition to the bout between Bea Priestley and Dr. Britt Baker DMD.
