WWE Women’s Tag Title match set for Backlash
According to WWE.com, the new Women’s Tag Team Champions will defend their titles in a triple threat match at Backlash.
Last week, the inaugural champions, Bayley and Sasha Banks, regained the titles in the main event of Friday’s episode of SmackDown. The duo has no time to rest on their laurels as their first defense is already scheduled.
On Sunday, Bliss Cross Applesauce and The IIconics will challenge Banks and Bayley at WWE Backlash. The champions have a history with both team as Billie Kay and Peyton Royce defeated them to end their first reign at WrestleMania 35.
They also have an established rivalry with Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross, going back to Bayley’s initial reign as SmackDown Women’s Champion. Of course, there is also some lingering tension from their stint on Raw.
This all came to a head over the last two weeks as they Banks and Bayley staked their claim to the titles they helped to establish.
Bliss and Cross will get their rematch. Meanwhile, The IIconics will continue their quest to become two-time champions. In other news, Asuka will also defend the RAW Women’s Championship against Nia Jax.
WWE Backlash will stream live on the WWE Network on Sunday, June 14 at 7 pm EST.
